Technology can make almost everything possible from connecting people across the world with a single device to reaching the Moon; everything can be achieved with the help of technology.
But not many thought that one day we will talk about supplying and distributing solar energy to different countries in the world.
Yes, we are talking about harnessing the sun’s energy for commercial use through the One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) project. It might seem unachievable but it is possible.
The idea was floated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the first session of ISA (International Solar Alliance). The One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOS) project is to supply solar power to solar deficient countries.
The main idea behind OSOWOS is to develop a trans-national grid supply of solar power being laid all over the world through which one country can sell solar power to other solar scarce or cold countries. After hydropower and wind energy, solar energy is the third major source of renewable energy. The OSOWOS project plan is to place undersea cables for transferring solar energy to other countries. The project needs sufficient time and money for proper implementation. The world can be divided into two zones, near eastern and near Western countries connecting initially 140 countries, while enactment can be done in three phases.
Till now solar energy was seen as a supplementary source to the conventional source of energy, but that day is very near when the whole world will be connected by a single grid of solar power as a primary source of energy. The OSOWOG project is a quest for sustainable development. Hazardous climate changes due to unsustainable consumption can be decayed up by producing and exporting renewable solar energy for a sustainable future. Hence, OSOWOG can come up as a huge revenue generation and environment-friendly project. Challenges like land acquisition for establishing solar plants, initial cost requirement for solar panels, solar lanterns will be there while executing the plan but if we face the challenges with an optimistic attitude then challenges can create an opportunity. Endless possibilities are coming in a way concerning solar power soon.
SUPRABHA is geared up to work in tandem with the vision laid out for the implementation of One Sun One World One Grid (OSOWOG) with India being at the fulcrum of a global solar grid or network. This will involve a lot of cross-national dissemination of learnings and coordination. SUPRABHA, with its deep learnings from working in the Indian ecosystem, will be in a favorable position to assist the government in any endeavor towards meeting the goals of this international venture.
